FIC LINK: Arms and the Man (Giles/Buffy, mature)

Title: Arms and the Man
Pairing: Giles/Buffy
Summary: An ancient order of knights makes Giles an intriguing offer, but both the Order and the Council seem to think he has to give up Buffy first. Buffy has her own opinion about that.
Rating: R
Warnings: none
Tags: chivalry, council, england, first time, knights, magic, mild D/s, season 4, swords, vampires
Word count: 48K
Notes: This was originally inspired by a prompt from het_idcrack round 1: "Buffy/Giles. During a knighting ceremony (by the Queen? by the Slayer herself?), or a similar rite, Buffy decides she likes him on his knees." Further inspiration came from a wickedfox manipulation. My summer_of_giles offering this year is a long, plotty id-fic featuring Giles, Buffy, swords, vampires, politics, Quentin Travers, people engaged in mock combat, more vampires, a collection of original characters, and almost zero Virgil. I hope you enjoy it. All historical inaccuracies are entirely irrelevant. If matters of fact begin to trouble you, simply repeat the words "Giles in armor" until the worry fades.

Today's not my birthday, nor is it penwiper26's, no matter what LJ is telling you. What an odd bug to have, after all these years. Today…
