In which there is geeky television, some writing progress, and some unrelated squee.

Today was all about the Star Trek indulgence with sahiya, who wanted an introduction to the original series canon. We watched "The Naked Time" and "The Corbomite Maneuver", two first season classics. Now we're watching Merlin, and is increasingly evident that Uther is right to kill every single magic user he encounters. They're all amazingly evil and piling up a huge bodycount. Uther and Morgana are so married, oh my god, she sits on a throne next to him and he keeps asking her advice. Sans ASH I don't think I'd be giving the series a re-watch, although I do admit the Merlin-Arthur interaction is satisfyingly snarky.

Also, Arfur is a prat.

We started out with a couple of hours in a cafe, where I discovered that my approach to the remix wasn't quite right, but I did find one that was. I have the shape of it in my head now. I might live to fail to plan again.

Random geekery: Prowl is the bomb. Growl notifications pushed to your iPhone!

Tonight's BPAL: St John's Eve. A summer bonfire, with frankincense and myrrh, bay rum, and white rose. Wow, wow, wow. Smoky incense. It smells just like the bowl of fine sand that kivrin gave me smells after I've burned sticky resinous incense and charcoal in it.

*mutters about different favorite original Trek episodes*

*sits in corner*

When did those annual 24 marathons of original Trek episodes stop playing on TV?
And I have just observed that the reasons I don't have seasons 2 and 3 on Bluray is that they haven't yet been released. So no "Amok Time" for Stacy yet.
I have a list of favorites that are different from those two as well, starting with "The Balance of Terror". But I wanted to give her a concentrated introduction to the characters, and hey, "The Naked Time" is amazing for that.

Also, I only have season 1 on disk so far, so a few huge ones weren't an option. Which I should fix, 'cause I am going to want to rewatch 'em all. Even "Spock's Brain".
Mr. Budgie's comment on Merlin - as soon as he saw the Uther/Morgana UST - was "Oh they are so doin' it!"

My vote for rewatch: The Empath, s3. In which there was much good acting.
"The Empath" was a fan-written episode, if I recall correctly. Ditto other favorites like "The Trouble with Tribbles". S3 was, er, somewhat uneven though. "Turnabout Intruder" is just plain offensive, f'rinstance.
