Works in progress: the scary late 2007 list

For my own thinking and planning purposes, in lieu of a getting-things-done app. Check it out if you're curious what I have cooking. If this list seems absurd, it's because it is absurd.

Title Pairing Description Progress Due Date
Les Bijoux Giles/Jenny Blindfolds and revelations. Blackmail-verse, season 2, cheerful. For a rounds_of_kink prompt. 2K Sept 9
Reconnection 3 Giles/Buffy Post-Flooded AU. "Oh yeah. Willow's soul is probably going to be eaten by Osiris to pay for resurrecting me. Which isn't making me happy. So if you get any good ideas about that one, I'm all ears." 6100 words Sept 29
"An Antique Roman" Giles/Ethan "I cannot make you what amends I would, therefore accept such kindness as I can." Except that's Richard, not Horatio; wrong play. Season 3 setting. 10800 words Oct 6

Ars Draconis 4 Giles/Buffy partnership Swords and sorcery gen season 5 rework. I have an overall story outline, but no detailed outline for the next section, and a lot of internal conflict about what needs to happen. Aside from the climactic scene, which I've had clear in my head for months.
"Readings" guess Season 5, mix of drama and comedy. Giles does a Tarot reading to help himself end his romantic funk, but gets answers he doesn't want to hear. And then Ethan shows up. 10K words
Reconnection 4 Giles/Buffy Willow's on the run, but there's a wedding to plan. notes
untitled, Cloud Animals-verse Giles/Xander Xander and Willow conspire to give Giles something he's always wanted. Schmooptastic. For secondalto, pay-it-forward meme. Three paragraphs of a single scene. July 2008
"Breaking Glass"-verse Giles/Buffy Aka the NaNoWriMo project, aka the Christian Watcher-Slayer bond novel. Nearly 60K words of story, starting in season 2 with Jenny Calendar dead, ending up in England with Quentin Travers, er... something. Religion, guilt, amends, prophecy, sacrifice & reward, lost artifacts, history drowned deep. Epic hurt/comfort. The story I want most to write. 60K words, about 50%
Trapped in a Cave Clichefic Giles/Buffy Buffy wakes up in a cave, next to an unconscious Giles. It's a puzzle. Lots of magic. 3500 words

  • Current Music: We Can Work It Out : Anthony Stewart Head : Music For Elevators
Supportive rattling of cowbells (like the skiers get!).
*clonk clonk clonk*
I've never accomplished anything lissening to that musical spacetrip, I get so gone.
Wow. I knew there was a lot going on, but when you put it all out there like this it seems very large and very overwhelming. How will you do it? Makes me want a clearer outline and picture of my own stuff. How do you organize things? How do you construct your outlines? Mine are always a mess, which seems to defeat the whole outline concept.

Just broke down and bought Music for Elevators. I hope not to hate it as much as I imagine I will.
I like some of Music for Elevators a great deal. It needed a better producer. (No bottom end, dude.)

How will I do it? One story at a time. As the whim takes me.
boy. no wonder you don't want me to post a WIP. Wow.

You didn't list a status of Displaced Watcher sequel-- I take it that one's pretty damned low on the list. Sigh.

Still, it's great that you have all these ideas, and even better that you have such solid starts on many of them. Hang in there.
I have a stack of books by the bedside. And another one in my office. They're not in any particular order of intention-to-read. If the urge strikes, I pick up one and read until done. The stories are the same way: if I don't have a deadline, I have to wait for the urge to strike.

Please prevent me from signing up for any more ficathons. Argh. They're starting to interfere with my plans. They look so shiny, but always end up disappointing me.
From what I could gather in my long and quite wonderful conversation with nwhepcat yesterday, ficathons are good for breaking one out of writer's block-- deadline, prompt, immediacy of inspiration/ desperation. But yeah, if they're interfereing with your many other projects, don't do them.
I have no writer's block to be knocked out of at the moment. Heh.

But yes, ficathons are wonderful for that: a sideways tap on the stuck place, just enough pressure to be inspirational, a small built-in audience that isn't your usual.
Hey, look, it's Giles in his post-Labour Day look - i.e., clothed! LOL
Mr. N took one look at your list and said; "That is completely absurd..."
Hey, did your calendar go nuts? I notice that you are several months ahead of the rest of the world. Is that a time warp or what?
I pinned this one at the top of my "recent entries" page by giving it a date in the future and then turning on the "date out of sequence" option. I wanted this post to be easy to find. That's all. I cheated. I don't really have a Tardis.

Don't sweat about mine. Whenever you get around to it, I'm good.

*headdesk* I need to get going on my own Buffy is the Hero story. I have a few pages of it, and nothing else. Yet. <.
Wow -- go you! You overachiever productive person you. You got more WIPs than me...
Hi, Tenna - don't forget I'm doing the Giles Watchers post tomorrow, Thanksgiving, so go frolic and enjoy some time off! I'll happily do Saturday and Sunday, too, if you are still socializing or just want a break - let me know!

Love, Kambee
