Unquenchable enthusiasm

At dinner tonight, I was telling Mr P about a dream I had last night, in which I was writing and I used a dreadful, awful, terrible adjective. It started with "re", but I otherwise couldn't remember it. But it was awful, and I didn't want anyone else to know that I had used this shameful adjective.

"Cool dream!" my husband said. "Was it in any of the catalogs?"

Which is a reference to the first line of a book I love very much: Unquenchable Fire by Rachel Pollack. This was one of those novels that I went nuts about and lent to friends in a fervor, because I wanted the world to have read it. To my dismay, not everybody liked it. But I think you guys might. And because I love you, here are the first three paragraphs:

Naming things: such a pain

Name Giles' horse! I have already named his nephew and his sister this evening, and that's about as much naming as my poor overheated brain can manage.

If I use the Conan Doyle method, I'd have to name it Silver Blaze. Which, heh, might work.
