Meet Jed Bartlet, president of the United Federation of Planets. Utterly delicious crack in some ways, and also completely plausible in others. The CJ voice is particularly great.

A letter to Sorkin about The West Wing season 4/5 cliffhanger and resolution:

Darn it. Everything I've read says the series flounders sans Sorkin, so it's like how I felt when I watched the last ep of season 5 BtVS: the good stuff is behind me now. Sniffle.

Also, I think it's very important that you all know I've been following Josiah Bartlet, AbbeyBartlet, JoshLyman, and LordJohnMarbury on Twitter. I'm not sure about this Toby Ziegler guy, though.

In brief:
- Am vastly enjoying Obama's conversation with Jed Bartlet.
- Had dinner last night at sahiya's place, with nemaihne, Mr N, and Mr P. Much conversation and card game playing.
- Discovered that Quark isn't all that funny despite thirty-year-old memories of it being so.
- Have hatched evil plan with S, aided and abetted by the dinner gang. Details soon.
- Observed that the fluffy Cat has switched modes from Aggressive Fur Ejection to Fur Proliferation. Therefore it is autumn.
- Back to writing, painful and slow as it is.

Have spent today watching The West Wing and working on yet another pointless software project that at least amuses me, and speeds the time before my inevitable mortality arrives. I'm now generating html, and am trying to decide how to slice the data for my new index page. Mind you, I still have to pre-process another 40 story files. Yargh. It's always about massaging the data.

I think I'm gonna write the rest of "Partners" for Spring With Xan. I re-read all of the Cloud Animals stories just now while wrangling the data, and hey, um, I'd like to know how it turns out. There's only one way for me to find out. So. Right. Sound good?

Crippling tension headache all day. Watched oodles of the first season of West Wing from a hot bath, which relaxed my shoulders enough that I stopped wanting to die and decided to watch some more out of the bath while de-pruning. Sorkin is at his best when he resists preaching, and he doesn't always manage it. I'm a sucker for his issues, but I have learned to wince when that un-subtle music swells under somebody talking in an inspirational manner.

Wanted! CJ/Danny fic recs. Of the sort that treats them both as intelligent adults. Does non-soppy fic exist? How about CJ/Giles crossover fics? (I'm just guessing there's zilch out there.)

Also: my hetfic_minis story is twice the required minimum and not yet actually a story. Argh. Head. Hurt. Ow. Could not write at all today. Except that in the bath, I had a huge insight into how Blackmail 3 needs to proceed. Too bad it's not what I need to write now. Or even next. But! Smut incoming!

Look, what good is being home, tired, and unable to go to sleep for jet-lag-management reasons if I don't spend the time writing silly polls? Here's one on the West Wing boxed set that should be sufficiently silly. ( After the cut... )
